Hello, I'm Joy D.

Being a Health Coach is a privilege of working with people who want to make a change in their lives​,​ are definitely not short of information in this day and age​,​ yet don't know where to start. The two questions I always ask my clients are these: What do you have too much or too little of in your life right now? How will your life look​,​ feel​,​ and be when you have it all in the right balance? Start by asking yourself these questions​,​ and let's take it from there. If you ever want to find me outside of work​,​ I am usually outside with our two dogs​,​ somewhere in the middle of the forest or racing around the water kitesurfing. I am a nature lover​,​ animal lover​,​ and all-round water baby. I am happily married with two stepchildren and two grandchildren. In my former professional lives​,​ I have been the MD of a very successful company and experienced all the health issues working at such a high level can bring. After selling the company and retiring in my 40's​,​ I decided to retrain as a psychotherapist and worked in sexual trauma for 12 years before moving into health coaching. When you have an active mind​,​ retirement isn't really an option​,​ so I went back to do the work I love.

How can you help me improve my health?

As a health coach, I can help you improve your health in several ways: We'll work together to find out what health goals are important to you. Then, we'll make a simple plan to reach them. I'll assist you in spotting habits that might be bad for your health. Together, we'll find easy ways to replace them with better ones. I'll share clear and up-to-date information on things like healthy eating, exercise, and handling stress. This will help you make smart choices about your health without being overwhelmed. Regular check-ins will help you stay focused on your goals. I'll be here to cheer you on and help solve any problems you face. I'll teach you simple ways to deal with stress, like deep breathing or mindfulness. These can make you feel better overall and add quality longevity into your years. If you have long-term health problems, I can offer help and support to make your daily life easier and help you follow your doctor's advice. We'll consider all parts of your life—body, mind, and social connections—to support your overall well-being. None of these exist in isolation, and all have an influence on your wellbeing and health. By using these steps, I aim to support you in reaching your health goals and making lasting positive changes.

Please share a health transformation story from one of your recent clients.

SJ was an overweight, highly anxious, but very successful young woman. She has four children, 2 dogs, a cat, and is a legal professional in a very demanding and stressful environment. She decided to undertake health coaching as a last resort after 15 years of anxiety medication and a gastric sleeve operation. The sessions began by understanding what she wanted to achieve and why it was important to her to change her lifestyle. By session 6, she was beginning to understand how her past was influencing her everyday choices and what measures she could take to address the arising symptoms. With a schedule of regular sleep, movement, managing her blood glucose, and addressing her anxiety, her weight slowly started to come down, and so did her anxiety. Six months into the programme, she was transformed with a set of tools to address and manage her anxiety, methods of addressing her metabolic syndrome, and reduced her burdening burnout potential. By the end of the year, she had lost a substantial amount of body fat, was walking the dogs on a daily basis, and was able to play on the floor with her children. Her time in the courtroom became a thriving challenge rather than somewhere to dread. She has maintained her current weight for over 7 months, and her quality of life has been transformed by the choices she made and has sustained.

With over a decade of experience, I combine my expertise in trauma therapy, health coaching, and hypnotherapy to offer a holistic approach to personal development. I offer one-on-one coaching sessions tailored to individual needs, ensuring a personalised experience that resonates with your goals and values. What’s your story and why are you a Health Coach?

I used to believe success meant never saying ‘no.’ In my early career—often spent in male-dominated environments—I followed every request, took on every project, and constantly aimed to please. From the outside, I looked like a driven professional climbing the ladder. Internally, however, I felt trapped by people-pleasing, perfectionism, and persistent self-doubt. No one tells you that relentless overachievement can lead to burnout just as quickly as it can lead to promotions. The truth hit me when I realised that no amount of external recognition could quiet the anxiety and imposter syndrome I faced daily. I was juggling stress, managing demanding roles, and questioning whether I truly belonged at the table. Determined to change this, I studied and became a psychotherapist, specialising in sexual trauma and abuse. Later on, I incorporated health coaching, seeking practical strategies to help women like me. I discovered that so many high-achieving women share the same fears of letting people down and the same drive to prove themselves, often to the detriment of their own well-being and health. Today, as a trauma-informed and holistic health coach, I empower women to overcome people-pleasing habits, tackle imposter syndrome, and build the resilience they need to thrive without sacrificing their mental and physical health.
