Hello, I'm Amanda P.
I am an experienced health coach with a back ground in personal training. As well as running my private practice, I also work as a Health Improvement coach for my local council delivering group and 1 to 1 coaching. I take a holistic view of health and work alongside my clients to help them achieve their health goals. I am especially passionate about supporting people to improve their brain health and reduce their longer term risk of developing dementia. This is an area I am building on in my private practice.

How can you help me improve my health?
If you are stressed, struggling with midlife weight gain, have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or are just scared of developing dementia, then by prioritising your brain health you can, with my support and guidance, improve your overall health, feel mentally sharper, lose weight, better manage stress and, most importantly, reduce your risk of cognitive decline.
Please share a health transformation story from one of your recent clients.
I work with many clients who want to lose weight often for health reasons. This lady, Claire, wanted to lose weight because she wanted to feel more confident. She also struggled with anxiety. We worked primarily on her diet as this is where we felt she could quickly make small, impactful but achievable changes. Over the next few weeks, Claire cut out most of the sugar and ultra processed foods in her diet. We started by looking at when she was eating these foods - a food and mood diary was very useful. Snacking was identified as a problem as was a poor macro nutrient balance in her meals. Claire made changes at a rate that suited her; she didn't want to feel overwhelmed. After just a few weeks, Claire told me that her knees felt better, that she was in less pain and felt more like moving her body. She'd also lost some weight. But she hadn't expected to feel so much better. Her mood improved too and she felt better able to deal with the stress in her life. Experiencing these benefits encouraged Claire to keep making changes and she lost the weight she wanted to lose. She felt more confident, she joined some exercise classes and her anxiety subsided. She had also learnt with me a few ways to help her manage her anxiety and reduce the impact of stress on her health. And, without realising it, she also reduced her risk of developing dementia later in life.
What’s your approach? Why might I like working with you?
I take a holistic view of health; whilst we know that diet, exercise, sleep and stress mangement are important for our long term brain health, so are things like our home environment, our exposure to toxins, social connection, and our self esteem. I work alongside my clients as a guide. I provide support, accountability and information as required.I help my clients move from where they are now to where they want to be in terms of their health; I help achieve their goals.
What’s your story and why are you a Health Coach?
My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease back in 2010. She was only 73 and had been showing signs of cognitive decline for a couple of years. My father found life very difficult and my Mum moved into a care home in 2015. It was her home for 9 years. She died in June 2024 on her 91st birthday. My brother was also ill during this time and sadly, he passed away in 2014. My experience of both my brother's and my mother's illnesses plus seeing first hand how it impacted my father, made me search for answers. I trained as a Personal Trainer and I changed my diet. My own health improved. A few years later, I certified as a health coach, because whilst I am passionate about the health benefits of exercise (especially for the brain), there is more to our health than that. I know that we can reduce our risk of developing dementia and other chronic lifestyle diseases through lifestyle change and I want to help as many people as possible do just that.
